If you don't see the book
you want on the shelf,
write it.
-Beverly Cleary

CHARTING YOUR COURSE:
  • Register at BPL-ages 4-18: You will receive your very own journal and a pack of colored pencils you will use to create your own Story Voyage.
  • Let your imagination sail until you discover the treasure of the story you want to write. You are the writer, pick the story you want to share. Will your story be Fiction, Non-fiction, or Short stories?
    • Fiction? Your imagination is full sail, make up whatever you want.
    • Non-fiction? True happenings, write about the who, what, where, when, and why of the story you write.
    • Short stories? These can be either true happenings or fiction where you imagine the stories. Maybe pick a theme, like a person, animal, place, or thing. Write your short stories based on the theme you pick.
  • Art can help tell a story and make it more interesting. Create drawings wherever you want to help enhance the story.
  • Length? You pick how long your story is. You can fill the entire journal or only part of it. You choose how long your Story Voyage will be.
  • Travel Tips: Make sure you think of and leave space for these important items before starting your journey.
    • Title: How do you want the cover to look? This is where you will write the story title, your name, and any art you want to include.
    • About the Author: Write your name and a little bit about yourself.
    • Contents Page: Choose a title for each chapter or short story then fill out the contents page with this information.
SHIPS LOG:
  • Enjoy the journey as you write your story!
SAILING INTO PORT:
