To reserve your skates call 231-882-4111 or visit our Library Catalog. A library card in good standing is required to check out skates. WAIVER FORMS: A waiver form must be signed by EACH adult who will be using the skates. An adult must sign a waiver form for children who will be using the skates.
NOTE: If there are multiple children you may list their names and ages before section A or on the back of the form. ACADEMY PARK ICE RINK
The outdoor ice skating rink at Academy Park is open free of charge to the public. It is located at 7042 Traverse Ave., Benzonia (corner of US-31 & Traverse Avenue) "THANK YOU" to The Cottage Pros for donating the labor and equipment to make the skating rink possible. |

Where can I borrow skates? Skates are available at the Benzonia Public Library at 891 Michigan Ave., during business hours. Due to COVID-19, hours and services vary.
Who can borrow skates? Adults, 18 years of age or older, are able to borrow skates for themselves and for minor children. To borrow ice skates through this program the adult must have a Benzonia Public Library card in good standing. A liability waiver form must be signed by EACH adult who will be using the skates and an adult must sign a waiver form for children who will be using the skates.
How Much Does It Cost? Free! There is no charge to borrow the ice skates.
How Long Can I Use the Skates? Each skate-lending period is 48 hours. Note: Thursday and Friday checkouts will be due Monday. Skates must be returned with their original bag and skate guards to the library during business hours. Due to the size of this item, skates must be returned directly to a staff member via curbside.
What If I Return the Skates Late? The success of this program depends on community members returning the skates on time; however, we know that life happens. If returned after the 48-hour rental period, a $1.00 per day overdue fee will be assessed. If skates are not returned within 10 days, the library cardholder will be charged the full replacement cost for each pair borrowed. Thanks, in advance, for ensuring we can share this wonderful resource with everyone who wishes to use it this winter season.

What Size Skate Should I Use? These BAUER hockey skates are unisex. A suggested sizing chart can be found above. Sizing is a preference and therefore charts do not guarantee fit. An assortment of skates is available for older children, teens, women, and men. A few are also offered in wide sizes. Skates are available on a first come, first served basis. At this time there is NO place to try on the skates.
