THANK YOU Dr. Lisa!
Thanks to a generous  donation by Lisa Musgrave, DDS,  the Benzonia Public Library now has ice skates available to lend.
Dr. Lisa said " I am constantly inspired by every amazing thing I see so many people do to
help those around us in our community."

She saw a need and took action to fill it. She stated "My ultimate goal is to inspire someone else
to do something for our community."

Next time you see Dr. Lisa we hope
you will tell her THANKS!

Frequently asked questions:

Where can I borrow skates?  Skates are available at the Benzonia Public Library at 891 Michigan Ave., during business hours. Due to COVID-19, hours and services vary.

Who can borrow skates?  Adults, 18 years of age or older, are able to borrow skates for themselves and for minor children.  To borrow ice skates through this program the adult must have a Benzonia Public Library card in good standing. A liability waiver form must be signed by EACH adult who will be using the skates and an adult must sign a waiver form for children who will be using the skates.

How Much Does It Cost?  Free!  There is no charge to borrow the ice skates.

How Long Can I Use the Skates?  Each skate-lending period is 48 hours. Note: Thursday and Friday checkouts will be due Monday.  Skates must be returned with their original bag and skate guards to the library during business hours.  Due to the size of this item, skates must be returned directly to a staff member via curbside.

What If I Return the Skates Late?  The success of this program depends on community members returning the skates on time; however, we know that life happens.  If returned after the 48-hour rental period, a $1.00 per day overdue fee will be assessed.  If skates are not returned within 10 days, the library cardholder will be charged the full replacement cost for each pair borrowed.  Thanks, in advance, for ensuring we can share this wonderful resource with everyone who wishes to use it this winter season.

Where Can I Use the Skates?  The Village of Benzonia public skating rink is located next to the library. It can be accessed from the library parking lot or on Traverse Avenue (off US-31).  The rink is maintained by “The Cottage Pros” who are donating their time and equipment. You are also welcome to use these skates on private rinks.

What Size Skate Should I Use?  These BAUER hockey skates are unisex. A suggested sizing chart can be found above. Sizing is a preference and therefore charts do not guarantee fit. An assortment of skates is available for older children, teens, women, and men. A few are also offered in wide sizes. Skates are available on a first come, first served basis. At this time there is NO place to try on the skates.
